A couple of doctors in Boston wrote a book last fall that offers women 10 simple lifestyle and diet changes they can make to increase their odds of conception by 80%. Those are excellent odds and you will find that many of the recommendations are what we have been saying all along. Some advice from the video:

  • Opt for full fat dairy
  • Get lots of iron from beans, not red meat

These nutrition tips will not help couples with structural barricades to fertility such as blocked tubes, but for unexplained infertility or other conditions that can contribute to infertility such as endometriosis, this is most certainly worth a try.

The video gives a close up view of ICSI or Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection in which a single sperm is injected directly into the egg. The video continues on with images of the cells multiplying, forming a blastocyst and finally an embryo. Clearly I endorse natural fertility boosters prior to resorting to in vitro or other micromanipulations such as ICSI, but it is still utterly fascinating to watch the embryo develop. It is simply mind boggling no matter how the conception took place.
